Miniature robotic forklifts: safer & smarter distribution logistics
“Help improve productivity & safety in the workplace by minimising manual handling, wherever that may be”.
As a human race we are devolving our physical capabilities and are limited by old thinking.
Our quest is to: re-engineer the industrial world, eliminating cost and physical barriers of the human activities; by rethinking traditional processes and applying advances in systems engineering, cross silo thinking and mechatronics.
We want to create a world of mobile robotic aids, enhancing people’s physical performance- making commercial environments safer and more cost effective. “Mobots’ becomes the benchmark for shifting small stuff in distribution chains”
Mobotech designs and manufactures robotic handling solutions for commercial applications. Its first product, Mobot, fills the gap between hand barrow and forklift. Due to health and safety constraints trucks doing deliveries of FMCG products are only running with 60% capacity. Its customers are large FMCG distributors/logistics companies. This disruptive technology gives logistics companies a ROI in less than 3 months.
The Mobot is a patented small robotic forklift: offering more cost effective & safer distribution logistics for the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), light industry, container de-stuffing and military industries.
We are a New Zealand registered (2519891) Limited Company exporting to Australia, North America and Europe.
Founder, Managing Director and visionary, Steve Haythorne has worked in the Logistic Industry for over 35 years. His career started in the New Zealand Army where he worked as a Major in Logistics with the RNZALR. He then moved to Allied Pickfords / Iron Mountain for 7 years as a Regional Manager for their 3PL business. He then worked for Goodman Fielder as their Supply Chain Manager.
He has a Management Diploma, Bachelor of Business Studies Degree and most recently a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.
Whilst working for Goodman Fielder he became concerned with the amount of manual labour, double handling and injuries caused moving heavy and high stacks of Bread on their journey from Bakeries to Stores.
“I had a vision for a device that could minimise manual labour handling and improve safety and productivity of staff”. He researched the market but could find no suitable solution……so, he went ahead and invented one.
It’s called a Mobot; an all electric, stand-on, zero-turn device designed to move items that are just too small for forklifts but too heavy to be safely moved by manual power. In essence, a Miniature robotic forklift that gives a safer & smarter distribution logistics solution.
He formed Mobotech Ltd in 2010 and brought a team together of like minded people to help realise the vision.
Mobotech has since received seed funding from GD1 (NZVIF, Sparkbox and Ice House). It has also received R&D Grants from the Ministry of Science & Technology and was nominated as a finalist in the NZ Innovators Awards 2013.
The Mobotech Teams’ vision remains; “help improve productivity & safety in the workplace by minimising manual handling, wherever that may be”.
